What is dengue?
Dengue is a viral disease. The disease is spread by the bite of the Aedes mosquito. Although cases of dengue fever are reported throughout the year in our country, the incidence of dengue fever is high from July to October. Common symptoms of dengue are fever. Temperatures may range from 101 degrees to 102 degrees. Dengue fever can be cured with normal treatment, but hemorrhagic dengue fever can lead to death.

  • To reduce fever, only use paracetamol or similar medications.
  • Depending on the fever level, this medication should be taken every 6 to 8 hours.
  • With a doctor’s advice, an adult person can take up to 4 doses of medication per day.
  • Doctors strictly advise against using aspirin or painkillers to reduce fever in the case of dengue.
  • To lower the fever, you can wipe the body with warm water, or taking a bath can also be effective.
  • It’s important for them to rest adequately.
  • For 7 to 10 days after symptoms appear, avoid heavy work. However, normal walking or daily activities can continue.
  • It is best to avoid going outside the house during this time.

 

  • Always use a mosquito net while sleeping, both during the day and at night.
  • If possible, use mosquito-repellent nets on windows.
  • Keep the surroundings of the house clean; if necessary, sprinkle bleaching powder in stagnant water.
  • Turn over items that can hold water.
  • Dispose of stagnant water in discarded tires, coconut shells, flower pots, air conditioners, refrigerators, plastic bottles, and containers around the house within 3 days.
  • Use mosquito repellent cream on exposed areas of the body.
  • Use mosquito-killing medicines, sprays, or coils.
  • Avoid wearing thin or loose clothing.
  • Take special care to ensure safety for children and the elderly.

 

  • Dengue patients should have protein and iron (such as apples, beef liver, soybeans, pomegranate, green vegetables, lentils, eggs, etc.).
  • They should also drink plenty of fluids such as water, saline, soup, coconut water, fruit juices, and milk-based beverages.
  • To avoid dehydration while recovering from dengue fever, they should drink about 2.5 to 3 liters of water every day.
  • Additionally, protein foods like fish, chicken, lean red meat, eggs, milk, and dairy products should be consumed.
