Non-Infectious Disease

Non-Infectious Disease

Diseases that are not caused by germs are generally called non-communicable diseases. Specialist doctors have advised to be aware of non-communicable diseases, especially diabetes, heart disease, cancer, kidney disease.

Diseases that do not spread from one person to another, i.e. are not contagious,  are called noncommunicable diseases  , or NCDs. In medical terms, it is a medical physical condition or disease that does not spread from one animal to another. Non-communicable diseases are now on the rise worldwide.  Non-communicable diseases like diabetes ,  high blood pressure , heart disease etc. are now killers. People with noncommunicable diseases often have a strong family history of the disease in their ancestors. Family or genetic history is very important in these diseases. Added to that are environmental factors such as environmental pollution, unhealthy and bad eating habits, lack of manual labor, smoking, mental stress, etc.

  • People’s standard of living, social unrest, food habits, mechanical life are all responsible for increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases. Financial insecurity, illiteracy and inadequate medical care are making the problem more pronounced.
  • Some other reasons like:
  • No manual labor and walking or exercise. As a result, body weight may increase.
  • Having a lazy lifestyle, being obese or overweight. People who are overweight can have high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and high cholesterol.
  • Change in eating habits, eating less vegetables, fruits, high-calorie and high-fat-sugar food habits, addiction to fast food, sugar and sweet and processed foods, chocolate, ice cream, excessive consumption of soft drinks.
  • Smoking, tobacco, rust, planting flowers, drug use.
  • Excess salt intake increases the risk of high blood pressure.
  • Chemicals and adulterants in food.
  • Lack of playgrounds, lack of physical activity or sports culture in schools.
  • Abuse of mobile, YouTube, TikTok, internet, television, computer games and Facebook. People of any age including children tend to lead a lazy life by using them.
  • Tendency to use car-lift-escalators.
  • Climate pollution. As a result, respiratory diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema or COPD, even birth defects, cancer and heart disease are on the rise.
  • Excessive tension, stress, excessive anger, excitement, fear, these can increase blood pressure.
  • There is lack of awareness among people. No one goes to the doctor and does regular checkups unless they feel physically ill. This is why non-communicable diseases are overwhelming people.

Treatment of these disorders is often expensive and incurable. So everyone should be vigilant about preventing remedies in the early stages.

  • We need to make drastic changes in our social lifestyle and food habits. Care should be taken in food intake. Eat low-fat and low-cholesterol foods. High-calorie foods, fast food, soft drinks, processed foods, chocolate, ice cream, sugary and sweet foods – such as syrups, glucose, pies etc. should be avoided or controlled.
  • Salt control: Excess salt beyond the required salt in the curry should be avoided.
  • Manual labor and regular exercise should be done. Walking regularly in the morning and evening, not using rickshaws or cars for short distances when going somewhere in the market, not using elevators for a few floors. If possible, go swimming or jogging, go to the gym and exercise.
  • Excessive use of mobile, YouTube, Facebook, television and computer should be reduced.
  • Those who are old or retired can also take regular walks. Can do gardening and maintenance with it.
  • Provision of adequate facilities for exercise and walking for city dwellers and playgrounds for school students.
  • Excess weight should be reduced. For this, diet control and regular exercise and physical exertion should be done.
  • Smoking, drinking, drugs, tobacco and jorda should be avoided. Tobacco control laws must be properly enforced.
  • Identify the causes of air pollution and take practical measures to prevent them. A lot of trees should be planted to increase greenery.
  • To deal with mental and physical stress. Peace of mind will be more through regular rest, sleeping on time, doing your hobby, practicing your religion etc.
  • Education and awareness is very important. Public awareness, inclusion in textbooks, use of media, training of teachers, religious figures and social leaders, awareness of social workers, awareness camps etc. can be arranged to prevent these diseases.
  • It is important to get used to a controlled lifestyle, regular checkups for diabetes, high blood pressure etc. Even after the age of 40, a medical checkup should be done every year.

Our health sector has successes, but also limitations. We need to plan properly and take proper steps to prevent non-communicable diseases. Because these diseases are serious public health problems today, which can never be eradicated. However, most cases are treatable and preventable. Prevention should be more careful than cure.
